Technology
Mercari's investment in technology underpins its philosophy to bring together the best trading concepts with key & relevant end user functionality. To that end Mercari has used Microsoft's.NET Framework technology to deliver Mercari Direct to each trader.
.NET represents an environment and programming infrastructure that supports the next generation desktop applications with seamless web services integration. It is an enabling environment, a set of fundamental user services that live on the desk top client and in the server, that are consistent with and build off the programming model. It is this level of integration that provides the necessary security, robustness, and speed that is required to continually evolve Mercari Direct.
The application is a locally running thick client utilising the .NET Runtime but does not require any registry settings on the local machine. It has been extensively tested on a range of operating system environments and will install and run on Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000. Total footprint of the application is under 5Mb on disk.
Mercari Administration Status
This application is an extension of the user packaged software with additional functionality for administration. It is packaged such that it can only run on Mercari sanctioned administration sites. This is done through a combination of installation restrictions, IP based access controls, rotating administration password access as well as logical access security policy and restrictions. With administration status Mercari ensures that only authorised users have access to the various market applications and that transparency in the market is maintained. Visibility of the users and positions in the market is available to the administrators ensuring appropriate dealer transparency for that administrator and therefore accountability of trading and order management.
